The Reception...
The Theme...
We wanted simple, stylish elegance - everything was either cream or ivory throughout the day. I have beautiful girlfriends so the invites asked everyone to wear FABULOUS FROCKS - almost everyone made a real effort and looked great.
The Flowers...
Emma recommended Yvonne at Friendly Triffids in Molesey for the flowers - Thank goodness she is excellent. I liked her when I met her and she knows the venue well. I explained what I wanted and we drew up a brief together, I emphasised how important the flowers were and how I wanted to be sure they would be perfect and fresh on the day. Yvonne excelled, she really did exceed and not just meet my expectations the flowers were all fabulous - my bouquet was perfect - a combination of calla lilly's and roses etc.. cascading down gently with ivy - around 2.5 feet. She and her team made two beautiful topiary trees - about six feet high which were stunning, she met the brief perfectly with the table decorations - beautiful ivory and white arrangements on tall glass vases with cascading ivy - all very elegant and beautiful. There were arrangements at the entrance to the aisle, as you entered the ceremony there was a beautiful arrangement on a pedestal, beautiful vases were packed with ivory roses in the loo and on casual relaxing tables around the venue and large arrangements on the bar area. Every flower was unblemished and the arrangements were made to perfection - the flowers were absolutely stunning and set the venue off perfectly - they looked opulent but elegant at the same time - very luxurious. Afterwards most of the flowers went to my mother's nursing home to be enjoyed by the residents and hardworking staff.
Table Decorations...
We wanted to keep the tables very simple, but elegant and chose all ivory, complemented by beautiful flowers, tea lights and simple glassware. We chose simple name places and beautiful menu's to match the invites. We did not have favours as they made the table too fussy, instead we bought and wrapped gifts for the children and placed them at the tables so they could entertain themselves through dinner - this worked really well and all the children felt special and involved not just the bridesmaids. The chairs were covered with ivory chair covers and had the ivory chiffon bows. It was intimate and very pretty and stylish.
