Seasonal Wedding Flowers in SeptemberQ
I'm getting married in September of this year, it's a church wedding but we are on a tight budget, could you give me an idea of flowers that are in season then, my bridesmaids are turquoise, could you also advise me of flowers I could use to tone in with the bridesmaids?" Choosing flowers in season will certainly help to keep your costs down, but there's also some flowers that are worth avoiding on cost grounds like calla lilies. Cost effective, seasonal flowers include freesia, gerbera, alstromeria, nerines, amaranthus, aster, carnations and chrysanthemums. Turquoise dresses look classic with white flowers, very Tiffany. If you wanted to be a bit more daring hot pinks and oranges look fantastic with turquoise. If you were going to go for white flowers, freesia and nerines would work well. On the other hand hot pink and orange gerberas would be very bright and summery. Expert Advice From: The flowers that are most in season in September include roses, chrysanthemums, dahlias and hydrangea. You can also use some of the more all year round flowers such as gerbera and lilies. With your colour scheme I would suggest using mostly whites and use the seasonal flowers for these and then as touches of blues. Blue flowers at this time of year include delphiniums, eryngium (Sea Holly), echinops and also hydrangea. A mixture of bloom chrysanthemum and delphiniums could make a beautiful hand tied bouquet. For church decoration it's worth noting that blue flowers tend to fade into dark backgrounds so make sure you add white to any pedestals to bring the flowers into the foreground of your vision. Expert Advice From: Lots of flowers are now available all year round, but may be more expensive if they are out of their normal season. Flowers for Autumn include Chrysanthemum, Hydrangea, Daisy, Orchid, Rose, Carnation & Freesia. For Turquoise Bridesmaids I would keep the bouquet to tones of white or Ivory. A simple hand tied posy of Freesias & Roses using bear grass for added colour. Expert Advice From: Have a question? Show a Friend Save My Ideas Print This Page Wedding Flowers RSS |
