Single Black Rose for my Wedding Flowers

Q

I am getting married in 8 weeks time, I am wearing a cream and black dress. I would really love a single black rose. Where can I find a black rose?

A

Unfortunately rose growers are still to develop a truly black rose. There is a variety called Black Bacarra, although it's a very deep, velvety burgundy colour, not black.

You can get a dyed black rose, but  I wouldn't recommend it given that the dye is liable to come off on your dress. Another option for you is a black preserved rose, they feel just like a fresh rose and won't stain your wedding dress.

A

The darkest natural rose is the Black Baccara which is actually a very dark nearly black red rose.

To get a true black rose you could ask your florist to dye a rose for you, which they should be able to do. There are special sprays to colour flowers and these are available in Black.
